October 31 Halloween Ghost
BOO!!!! Where's Rob? Well, I guess the easy answer is around. I've been crazy busy, and getting into my stride. I started a new job. (I guess, you can't call it new any more. Wireless networking) We have a new member in the band, and have been chipping away at getting him up to speed. Still spending my free hours with Nik and the family, and things are going good with them. And I am also writing a NASCAR column, believe it or not.
I've neglected this blog for quite some time, but I guess I haven't really stopped blogging. In order to sharpen my chops with the NASCAR pen, I opened a Sports Blog, and have digging away on that now and then. All NASCAR, all the time! With the season winding down, I'm getting busy. It is also a busy time at work as well, and I have been putting in long hours. (That is till they cut me off.)
Things are really rolling for me right now, and I hope to take this speed into next year. I also hope to spend some more time here on this blog to get back into my MSN groove. I hope to be back and spinning here in the next few weeks.
Happy Halloween, You Freaks!
October 11 The Beard Chronicles Part 1The Beard Chronicles
I have decided to share with you my experience in something that I am calling, The Beard Chronicles. Why? I'm glad you asked!
Why not? I'm growing a beard.
I'm not sure how long it will last. It may last 2 days, two weeks, or two months. Ok, it will be gone by Thankgiving, that's for sure. But I figured I might share with you the growing stages with some pictures. I can't say that I will update about it, but I will try to include a picture into the photo gallery titled, The Beard Chronicles, whenever I get the chance.
So, I shaved Monday, the 10th of October, that will be day 1 of my stupid beard campaign. I know that most of you could care less, but thats why I put it under the catagory of, 'like anyone cares.' Plus, if come Halloween, I want to dress as someone with facial hair, it will be authentic. Stay tuned for Rob with a mustache!
October 10 Monday Already?
I'm never drinking again! Please, tell me it's not Monday. Really? Yuck! Well, this weekend I wanted to have a few drinks, relax, because I had a long week. Good Rob, Jobby! (wait, was that right? Or am I still drunk?) Wow, did I get it done. I had a blast though, and got some stress out. If you know what I mean? So, in true hangover fashion, 'I'm never drinking again!' At least till next weekend.....I'm pretty sure this week will be just as busy for me. So, if I go missing again, you will know why. I have not even had time to play any music. And it's really getting to me. I have been starting to jot some notes for some song ideas. They seem to be coming like storms. But with no time to work them through, I fear the inspiration may fade.
The band will start getting up to full speed this week, for our show on the 22nd. I can't remember the last time we played three sets in a night. It's a great chance to dive deep into our catalog and shake the dust off some old tunes, and try to bring some magic to the new ones. But debating over what those three sets will consist of, will probably end up taking longer then the actual show will. We will take our master list of original songs, which is has grown to almost 70 songs, and pick about 35 of them to play. Then we will see which ones fit together, which ones don't, and try to put together seperate sets. It's a lot harder then you think. You don't want to put songs together that are in the same key, or have similiar time, or just don't get along with each other. Then we hit the studio to work on any of the songs were not totally comfortable with, and some of the suprises that go along with playing a full night. No wonder why we like to play with other bands!
So, I have that stuff to do, plus about a months worth of work to do this week. I'm a bit stressed, but my weekend was good. I did get some good dog time in this weekend. I think I wore her out, cause she is sound asleep right next to me. I think I'm going to join her. Hopefully, when I wake up Monday morning, it will already be Tuesday.
October 07 Weekend UpdateFall In Minnesota
Hola! I am still alive, I have just been so busy this week. You guys are all too funny! I leave for just a little bit, when I come back you guys have stolen all my stuff. And my guitar? Kambria, don't take my number one, I may need that....., Paul, take the ac unit. It's gotten pretty cold here in Minnesota. I shouldn't need it till next spring. You all made me laugh, and it's been such a long week. I needed that.
But it's Friday now! I did get some good news this week. The band has two dates confirmed so far for the fall. Big Cheers, the band got invited back to the (Booze and Lose) in the early part of November. And we will also be playing a full night on the 22nd of this month. We are trying get at least one more date before the snow falls.
I also just realized, since I actually got my hands on a new band bio a friend had written for us, that we will be a year old in November. It seems like so much longer then that. And it has, we had been playing together in the same circles for years, but it is the date of our first show with the new band name that is considered the starting gun. We have had a great year! But I have realized that the line between this band and my last had really begun to blur. I think I'm getting old.
I promise to make the rounds to all my friends sometime this weekend. I'm looking forward to having some time to relax also, but it's hard to sit in front of a computer when it's so beautiful outside. The fall colors are really getting started around here. Fall is my favorite time of the year. I love walking Sid through the leaves. She loves it too. And since she is reading over my shoulder right now, (yes, my dog is so smart, she can read) she wants to get started. It's Friday for her too! Hope you all have a great weekend!
September 09 Nothing to do?
For those of you that know me, you already are well aware that my band also has a blog. It is mostly used for our emailing list, google searches, booking agents, and we link it from other music sites and such. You can find a link on my site to the bands, but you will not find a link from the bands blog to mine. Why? Glad you asked. I like to keep it completely seperate. The band site gets a ton of hits, but most of them are from people I don't know. My personal blog is somewhat a secret from the rest of the world, and I would like to keep it that way. If I ever start getting hits from the bands site, I would have to make my blog private. And that would suck, cause I really enjoy meeting new people from the blogging world. (if you have ever noticed, I never put the bands name into any of my blog entries for fear of being googled) Blah, blah, blah, you get the point. With that said, if you have nothing better to do this weekend, jump on over to the bands site and read the last post. It made me crack up, so I wanted to share it with all of you. It seems as though my band mates have completely lost their minds and are trying to drag me down with them. If you go over to the bands site and read the interview, come back here to comment. (Since most of the bands hits are from non space people, it really doesn't get too many comments) If you have nothing better to do this weekend, click here.
And for those of you that want to hear a song of mine, there is one playing on the band blog. (press play on the media player) Yes, thats me singing. Feel free to criticize me. Bring it on!!!! August 17 Tuesdays gone with the Wind
I want to thank everyone for stopping by and sharing your Monday morning music with me. It seems as though you all liked my top ten list, with the exeption of Walking on Sunshine. (sorry Shannon!) She also gets the most creative award for her choice of The 13th Floor Elevators. A great choice, but Shannon, did you forget about The Beta Band?
It also seems as though the Space banter has been taken to a whole new level. And who could possibly be behind this banter raising bar? Well, who else but my favorite chav loving, brit bloc * What? It gets lonely in prison!
August 01 Hello?I am back in one piece, but I don't have time to update yet. I will sometime late tonight, but right now I am on my way to meet with the band. Got to turn up! Because after this last weekend, the band break is over. Let's get Down to Business, shall we? It's time we stopped playing games. Let's get Down to Business, shall we?...., and tackle this, what shackles us, all of this pressing Business! July 16 Saturday Night!ummm, Drinks. Lots of drinks! Yes, Ive thought really hard about what I want to do tonight, and I've decided. I'm going to the store. Driving to the grocery store, pull my money out. Walk into the liquor store, throw my money DOWN!!!! Ain't Life Grand!!!! July 14 Wake up, Wake up, Wake UpGlad to see 3 spacers knew what song it was. Yes, a lot of musicians recorded and have performed this song, and all of you have heard it a 1000 times. Its best known from Marvin Gaye. What I was in need of was some, 'Sexual Healing.' Congrats to all of you that got the answer right, but I can't help but feel like the winner.
For the rest of you, learn the damn song! (You know you need it!!!!)
Sexual Healing by Marvin Gaye

I can't believe how hard its been for people. Only one person has gotten it so far. Anyone else want to try? July 12 What I Need?Still some craziness out and about in my world. But don't threat, cause when I get that feeling...,
Baby I got sick this morning
A sea was storming inside of me Baby I think I'm capsizing The waves are rising and rising And when I get that feeling I want
July 05 Happy Hangover of July!Wow, must consume American tradition.., The weekend of the Forth was a ton of good times. I'm happy to be in one piece after a very blurry week. Saw the Fireworks over the lake! Tried to takes some photos, but didn't listen to d3v's advice about taking them. Didn't have a tripod, and I WAS DRINKING! They ended up pretty tasty and crazy though, so I uploaded a few. I was expecting to run into a ton of people at the bar Monday night, but it ended up Nikki and I. Good fireworks and the drinks were sweet.
I'm done looking after my friends, mothers dog for the week. She is the mother of one of my best friends for life. I met Tripp when I was in kindergarten. We both had older sisters that were named Shelly and we thought that was so cool. We have been best friends ever since that first day of class. He lives in Colorado now, with his wife and beautiful daughter Kaylyn. His Mom still lives here, and went to visit him. She called me up and asked if I could help. How was I to say no, she has treated me like her own for my whole life. It was a little freeky to spend the night in a house I grew up in, and have barely been back to since. So many good childhood memories in the scent of that house. I walked in and made myself at home.., again. No internet over there, so I'm glad to be back. Sid's happy too. June 23 Crazy Moon!Proof that strange energy is held within the tides. Full moons bring the crazy out of every turn. And we are having more than our share here in our corner of Minnesota. My heart goes out to all my close friends that some of the negative energy has been attracted to. Somehow, more than a few, tangents have creeped into the circle of some close people. And the effects have not been shown yet, but are bound to make it's mark. I feel a need to be on extra alert, and stay below radar for awhile. Not to stir the pot, and try to keep balance. Sometimes Life happens! You may strive to be a big strong oak in the forest you live, but it's always better to be a willow. When it storms, the oak is the first to fall. The willow bends with the wind..., June 16 Music ReviewsSo the band has some songs on these charts at garagebands. It was thrown into the Indie Music genre, (not by my choice) and it's being torn apart. I Love it! All the bands on these charts review each other, and so on. Its been a ton of fun watching these musicians review our music. Everybody knows everything about music, just a little bit more than the next guy. We have gotten some rave reviews, by some of the most perfect unsigned bands in the world. Here's a few.., Review of Cool Me Down by Tokyo Love Cash Extra Credit: Guitars, Beat, Stupidest Song I've Ever Heard. This is my favorite! Review of Cool Me Down by Tokyo Love Cash - jkerans Are they seriously this stoned? Could you dig down a little deeper? How do you expect to get anywhere without, at least, trying to be smart? Give yourself a little bit of credit by not putting your name behind some of the most thoughtless words to ever waste your time with. (i erased the first guys name, because it was his full real name.) People are so smart! Turns out I ended up reviewing the second guys stuff, (without knowing it was the same guy) and kind of dug into it a bit. I've left great reviews everywhere else, but his stuff was too over the top cheese. He emailed to thank me for my honesty, and completely agreed with my opinions on his tune. He turned out to be really nice. But he sent me a longer email then any of his reviews. I don't get it! Here's something I wrote as a review. My favorite band on Garagebands! Extra Credit: Male Vocals, Guitars, Drums, Bass, Keyboards, Production, Lyrics, Melody, Beat, Originality, Most Rocking Track. Now was that so hard? I listened to the song twice, and only 15 minutes of my time. I guess you don't always get what you give! I don't expect to be stroked off, but give me something I can chew on..., at least. P.S., a urinary infection is very rock and roll. June 07 Like anyone cares...,Just wanted to drop a line to clear up a few things. I don't have a link to my space from the bands blog, because I don't want one. The bands blog is for business and our email list. I am not just the band, so I figured I needed my own space. I am also having a hard time writting for 5 different people, and I don't want to piss anyone off with my opinions. This way everybodies happy. If you found me, then great! If the smart ones look hard enough, they can find me too. Some close friends have links to me from there blogs, and I think that's good enough. (and I want to thank them for doing so.) I do have a link to my bands blog from here, but thats just for the curious. If you do go to the band blog, try not leave any comments on where you came from. I hate being so secretive, but I enjoy my privacy. I enjoy having my friends outside of music. I swear I will get around to putting some of my new friends links on here, so bear with me..., please! |
